Course Description: This course will introduce new special education teachers to special education procedures, policies, and philosophies within the

Course Objectives:
§ Students will be able to list resources available within the district and state.
§ Students will demonstrate the ability to write a complete special education document from referral to eligibility including early childhood IEP’s and secondary transition plans.
§ Students will understand decision make processes including determining ESY, Special Transportation, assistive technology and change of placement, including pre-placement evaluation.
§ Students will become familiar with functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans
§ Students will become familiar with Common Core and what it means to Special Education
